Happy Houndz is not just an ordinary Boarding Kennels.. we are a small, exclusive “doggy holiday home” based in the picturesque village of Backbarrow, Cumbria, in the heart of the Lake District – No sitting around in kennels here!
Every dog that boards with us is guaranteed between 2 and 3 walks a day depending on their ability and how far they can go - we usually do anywhere between 1 hour and 1and half hours and this can be on the fell or on the quiet back country lanes around Finsthwaite or Bigland Hall or sometimes if possible a trip to the beach. This is included in the price of boarding. If the dog’s aren’t on a walk then they are having a fun time in the playground with other dogs, being allowed to socialise and interact with us and each other.
No sitting around in these kennels - not unless you are either a puppy who is developing, or a senior who likes to take things at your own speed, either way every dog is assessed on arrival and exercising is discussed with the owner and the exercise programme is built around them.
The team is constantly walking or exercising or playing with every dog and this is reflected within the change of opening times to allow us to be able to spend more quality time with the dogs.
Fancy a weekend away in the Lakes while your dog is having a fantastic time?
Each dog is treated as an individual and each stay is tailored to suit each dog’s needs. From the most active dog who will benefit from the regular exercise throughout the day to a much gentler pace for our more senior friends who are still “youngsters at heart”. Youngsters are welcome by the way, just as soon as all vaccinations have been completed.
